Level IIIA Face Shields
The bulletproof helmet visor from Atomic Defense qualifies for NIJ Level IIIA. Our ballistic face shields are categorized under standard 0106.01 for ballistic helmets. NIJ regulations assess a piece of equipment's ability to resist certain bullets at certain speeds. Each NIJ category under standard 0106.01 describes which rounds the gear can prevent from penetrating deeper than 44mm.
Our facial visors are tested to the same requirements as a level II helmet under NIJ Standard 0106.01. This means they must resist four shots from .357 Magnum JSP and four shots from 9 mm FMJ. We test our visors to exceed these requirements, by also testing against .44 Magnum, at our testing facility in Fresno, California. When a visor stops the rounds the NIJ requires, we fire additional rounds and test against shotgun slugs to confirm that the performance of the ballistic face shield exceeds NIJ standards.

Very practical. Worth the money.
After looking to purchase ballistic face protection I settled on this face shield. It allows for natural breathing, broad field of vision and minimal encumbrance. The way the mask is mounted you have a better chance of avoiding kinetic energy transfer than the face mask options.
Completely agree! Visors are the better option in our opinion too when compared to face masks.

Solid is an understatement
The quality of these shields is top notch. Blunt force is no problem. I will add to this review if I experience ballistic confrontation.
This is a solid concept and well built. My 7yr old is fine with the extra weight and likes the backpack deign. My only feedback would be to have the plate in a more heavy duty pocket so it doesn't move around so easily when child is in motion/running
Worked great & a great buy. A little pricey, but worth the money. I didn’t miss a beat while firing or working the range, and I got a lot of compliments too.
So far the light is great. Brighter than a few arisakas and surefire I have. At first I was iffy about not having a pressure pad, but found out it is easy to manipulate while using my normal grip. I like how the switch is easy to turn on while using minimal pressure. So far so good, seems like a solid light. I'll be testing this weekend to see how it will hold up. I have a 12.5 308 that I have it on, and ready to see how it will withstand.
I reviewed several videos from outside sources on this helmet and was impressed by how well it stood up to the ballistic testing. Also the fit and finish was good.Hopefully I’ll never have to use this for defensive purposes.
Delivered on time. It was as described - but way heavier and thicker than I imagined. Have to get a bigger backpack in order for it to fit with books, ect...
The box when arrived was shredded - super surprised it was delivered - but it made it.
