The Multi-Reticle System (MRS)

One of the most popular features of a Holosun sight is the Multi-Reticle System. In the past, you bought a sight with a single dot size and were stuck with it. Now you can change your reticle's appearance to match your environment.

  • The 2 MOA Dot: Best for long-range precision. It doesn't cover up small targets.
  • The 32/65 MOA Circle: Best for close-quarters speed. Your eye finds the large circle much faster under stress.
  • The Combined Reticle uses both the dot and the circle for maximum versatility.

User Tip: If you are wondering how to change the Holosun reticle, it is simple. Most models allow you to hold the "Minus" (-) button for three seconds to cycle through the options.

Advanced Power Management

A dead battery in a self-defense situation is a liability. Holosun uses two primary systems to ensure your sight is always on.

  1. Shake Awake: The sight turns off when it is perfectly still to save power. The moment it senses movement—even a slight bump—it turns back on.
  2. Solar Failsafe: A small solar panel sits atop the sight. If your battery dies, the sun (or even indoor overhead lights) will power the reticle so you can stay in the fight.

Structural Metallurgy | Aluminum vs. Titanium

Atomic Defense focuses on protection. We know that gear gets dropped, hit against door frames, and dragged through the dirt.

  • 7075 T6 Aluminum: Used in the standard Holosun optics. This is "Aircraft Grade" material, much stronger than the 6061 aluminum used by cheaper brands.
  • Grade 5 Titanium: Used in the elite models (like the 508T and 509T). Titanium is significantly harder to crush or crack. If you are a police officer or a soldier, titanium is the standard for duty use.

Open vs. Enclosed Emitters

  • Open Sights: These have one lens. They are lighter and hide better under a shirt. However, if rain or mud gets on the LED bulb, the dot will disappear.
  • Enclosed Sights: These have two lenses with the LED sealed inside. They are slightly larger but much more reliable. If mud covers the glass, you just wipe it off. Rain and snow cannot stop an enclosed Holosun sight.

Next-Generation: Thermal and Night Vision

Holosun is currently leading the market in "Digital Fusion."

The Holosun thermal red dot (DPS-TH) allows you to see heat signatures through your pistol sight. This means a suspect hiding in tall grass or a dark alley will "glow," making them impossible to miss.

For rifle users, the DRS-NV provides digital night vision. You can record your hunt or your mission directly to the sight’s internal memory. When paired with a Holosun Raid Light, you gain total control over low-light environments.

Night Vision Integration and Passive Aiming

If you wear night vision goggles (NVGs), you know that turning on a laser is like shining a flashlight in the dark—everyone can see you.

"Passive Aiming" means looking through your optic with your goggles. This requires extremely clear glass and very dim "NV settings" so the dot doesn't burn your goggles. The AEMS and 515 models are famous for their night vision performance, rivaling sights that cost three times as much.

Warranty and Purchasing

Do Holosuns come zeroed? No. You must zero your sight to your specific gun. However, they are built to hold that zero through thousands of rounds.

The Holosun warranty is a Limited Lifetime Warranty. It covers the housing and the electronics against defects. Warning: You must buy from an Authorized Dealer. Atomic Defense is a certified dealer. If you buy from a random third-party site, your warranty may be void, and you might receive a fake product.
