What is manual gain and why do I want it?

 Manual gain is like a brightness control for your night vision. This is very important. It lets you turn the brightness up to see better in dark woods, or turn it down when you are near street lights. This gives you full control of your image.

Why is the built-in IR illuminator a big deal? 

An IR illuminator is like a flashlight that only night vision can see. It helps you see in total darkness, like inside a building with no windows. This ANVB has one built-in, so you do not need to buy a separate one. You can even switch its beam from a wide "flood" light to a tight "spot" light.

What does "articulating" mean?

 "Articulating" means each side of the binocular (called a pod) can flip up on its own. This is useful because you can flip one side up to see with your normal eye. The ANVB also automatically turns off any pod you flip up, which saves power and stops light from shining on your helmet.
