DOT Mounts: 2.26-Inch Optical Risers for Modern Tactical Rifles
The modern tactical firearms market is crowded with standard red dot sights and basic aluminum risers. However, a major shift is happening. Shooters are moving away from the old standard 1.5-inch and 1.70-inch optical heights. These low heights force shooters to crush their neck downward, causing fatigue and poor situational awareness.
Dynamic Optronic Technologies engineered a complete solution to this problem. DOT Mounts provide a precise 2.26-inch to 2.33-inch optical centerline. This exact height allows the average adult human spine to stay completely straight and vertical while aiming.

Featured Products in the Ecosystem
The DOT series is not just a single aluminum block; it is an integrated mounting ecosystem.
- Delta Optic Riser Mount (DORM): This is the foundation of the lineup. It provides a 4.5-inch top rail, adding 0.6 inches of vertical elevation to achieve the 2.26-inch centerline. It weighs roughly 3.0 ounces and is built for short-barreled rifles (SBRs) where upper receiver space is very tight.
- DORM EXT: This extended version features a 5.75-inch continuous rail. It gives you an extra 1.25 inches of space. This allows you to mount a red dot, a heavy magnifier, and a laser aiming module all on the exact same elevated plane.
- Delta ACRO Mount: Built specifically for ultra-compact enclosed emitter sights. It drastically reduces the weight and visual bulk of your rifle setup.
- ACRO Mount Diving Board Attachment: This is a specialized, forward-facing Cantilever mount that connects to the primary ACRO riser. It floats your laser directly over the handguard without touching it. Because modern free-floated handguards bend when you rest them on a barricade, mounting a laser to the handguard ruins your accuracy. This diving board completely prevents that, keeping your laser perfectly accurate.
| Model | Optical Centerline | Top Rail Length / Design | Material & Coating | Primary Use & Compatibility |
| DORM (Delta Optic Riser Mount) | 2.26" to 2.33" | 4.5 inches (+0.6" vertical elevation) | 7075-T6 Aluminum / Type III Hard Coat Anodized | Short-Barreled Rifles (SBRs), standard red dots. Weighs roughly 3.0 oz. |
| DORM EXT (Extended) | 2.26" to 2.33" | 5.75 inches (+1.25" extra rail space) | 7075-T6 Aluminum / Type III Hard Coat Anodized | Running a primary optic, heavy magnifier, and laser aiming module on one plane. |
| Delta ACRO Mount | 2.26" to 2.33" | Minimalist Enclosed Emitter Footprint | 7075-T6 Aluminum / Type III Hard Coat Anodized | Ultra-compact enclosed micro-optics (Aimpoint ACRO P-1/P-2, Steiner MPS). |
| ACRO Mount Diving Board | Matches Primary Mount | Forward-Facing Cantilever | 7075-T6 Aluminum / Type III Hard Coat Anodized | Isolates laser aiming devices over the handguard to prevent zero shift from rail flex. |
Superior Materials and Clamping Systems
A high-end optic is useless if the mount holding it bends or breaks. Budget mounts use cheap 6061-T6 aluminum, which lacks raw yield strength. All DOTronic Mounts are machined from solid billets of 7075-T6 aerospace aluminum. This material acts like steel in terms of tensile strength but keeps the lightweight properties of aluminum.
The connection to your rifle is just as important. Most shooters attach their optics to a standard Picatinny rail. While some older hunting rifles still use a Weaver rail, modern tactical rifles rely on the Picatinny standard. While some shooters look for a Quick Detach (QD) mount or a standard Quick Detach mount, DOT relies on a highly specialized nitrite-coated steel clamp to secure the base. This high-carbon steel handles extreme pressure without stretching the threads. The nitrite coating increases surface hardness and prevents thread galling, which is when bolts freeze up and seize in the field. This solid steel clamp is why these mounts excel at holding zero during heavy recoil, which is a common failure point for an average QD mount.
These mounts are finished with a Type III Class II Mil-Spec Hard Anodizing process. This electrochemical process creates a microscopic layer of aluminum oxide that stops corrosion and surface scratching. They are available in both Black and FDE (Flat Dark Earth) colors.

Gear Compatibility and Performance
These mounts are built to hold the industry's most proven optics. They are fully compatible with large-window sights like the Eotech EXPS, Vortex UH-1, and Leupold LCO. They also support enclosed micro-optics like the Aimpoint ACRO P-2 and Steiner MPS.
When paired with a high-end sight, the advantages are massive. For example, the DOT EHS-1 utilizes true laser holography, which provides a zero-parallax reticle. It projects a crisp 1 MOA center dot and a 65 MOA outer ring. Because of this laser design, the shooter has infinite eye relief, meaning you can place your head at any distance behind the glass and still hit your target.
Zeroing your weapon system becomes much easier with the DORM EXT. Because your primary optic and your forward-mounted laser sit on the same continuous elevated rail, the convergence of your red dot and laser is brought closer together. Furthermore, moving your laser to the upper receiver frees up space on your M-LOK handguard, changing the balance of the rifle and reducing the overall moment of inertia.
DOT, dotronics, dotronic, or Dynamic Optronic Technologies?
DOT is the correct and official name. The acronym stands for Dynamic Optronic Technologies. While many shooters search for dotronics or dotronic online, the manufacturer officially uses DOT across their product lines and documentation. This name reflects their core mission: applying advanced physics and structural kinesiology to modern optical mounting solutions. Core Benefits and Unique Factors
To summarize the operational advantages, here are the unique factors that separate these mounts from the rest of the market:
- Heads-Up Posture: The 2.26-inch height keeps your cervical spine neutral, stopping heavy muscular fatigue in your neck and shoulders.
- Situational Awareness: Looking straight ahead maximizes your peripheral vision, allowing you to track moving threats faster.
- Passive Aiming Capability: The height provides the exact clearance needed to look through your optic while wearing heavy night vision goggles (NVGs) without hitting your helmet on the rifle stock.
- Gas Mask Clearance: You can maintain a vertical rifle hold while wearing a CBRN respirator, preventing extreme rifle canting and missed shots.
- Elimination of Zero Shift: The cantilever diving board isolates your aiming lasers from handguard deflection, ensuring your point of impact never drifts.
